I saw this advertised on the telly yesterday and thought it looked such a good idea. It's basically a photo album for babies. You can put 8 different photos in it and you slide them behind protective plastic to protect them from sticky fingers and dribble. This one has the added feature of being able to record voice messages on the different pages and you can stand it up as a photoframe. The idea is that distant relatives become familiar to your baby. It gets 2 great reviews but it's quite expensive IMO at £19.56.
A similar thing is made by Manhatten Toys called the Whoozit Album. This doesn't have the voiceover function but I think that's a bit of a gimmick anyhow and it's only £9.19. It also has plastic rings attached for chewing on which also means you can clip it onto bags and things if your child wants to take it around with them. One of the american reviewers writes that their son takes his to nursery with him and finds it a comfort to look at familiar faces when feeling low.
M is probably a bit old for either of these things now at 2. They seem to be very much aimed at babies but I wish I'd known about them when she was littler. I will keep them in mind to buy as presents for younger children though. We have something a bit like this photo holder in our kitchen filled with pictures of relatives and my kids love pointing out who is who and discussing them. Took me ages to get round to getting one of these but so glad we did as it really cheers up our kitchen.
