When A was aged between 2 or 3 he had all sorts of electronic toys that were trying to sneak learning his letters into his head while he thought he was playing. Now he is at school and actually expected to know some letters and numbers it has become apparent that all this early brain washing had no effect whatsoever. I have therefore lost a lot of faith in all of these electronic learning aids and we actually don't have all that many in our house any more.
2 year old M is a very different creature to A however and I have always had my suspicions that had she been my first child she would have been a little more responsive to the one to one attention than A was. As a second child however she gets precious little intellectual stimulation. She has barely seen a puzzle, has the letters m and t left from our fridge Phonics and is plonked in front of episodes of Ben 10 far too frequently.
These are the factors that, when added to the sad little look on her face as she handed A birthday present after birthday present, accompanying each with a hopeful "me present?", have prompted me to use a £20 Amazon voucher I earned from filling out surveys on toothpaste and suchlike on this Peppa Fun Phonics. We had a fiddle with it in Woolworths before it's sad closure and it has a lot of different settings and very clear sound. It has no bits for us to lose and I hope Peppa will be enough to pull in a little interest. There are no reviews anywhere that I could find on this item so I guess I'll just have to be the first.
